Today is the first of Februrary – cold, frosty, with a thin layer of ice on the garage roof next door. Someone’s cat has come in from the cold and our old cat is staring at him,utterly bewildered by his presence, not knowing quite how to get him out. Our cat is an amiable animal and aggression does not come easily. I’m going to let him get on with it (or not) and carry on with the current painting – part of a long series of  ‘window studies’ which has had me in its grip. As usual, part of the struggle is the struggle to clear  my own opinions of it
